About

About Me

I am Gabriel de Oliveira Furtado, a Brazilian physics graduate from the Federal University of Itajubá. My academic and professional path combines physics education, independent tutoring, multilingual instruction, and a growing interest in Physics Education Research.

My main academic interest is understanding how students learn physics, especially when they encounter abstract and mathematically demanding topics such as quantum mechanics. I am particularly interested in conceptual difficulties, formative assessment, interactive tutorials, and research-based strategies for improving student learning.

As an educator, I value clarity, intellectual rigor, and structured explanation. I believe that difficult concepts should not be simplified to the point of distortion; instead, they should be organized carefully so that students can build meaning step by step.

Academic Profile

My academic background.

My academic background is rooted in physics teaching and scientific reasoning. I am interested in the connection between conceptual understanding, mathematical representation, and instructional design.

My long-term goal is to develop as a scholar in Physics Education Research, contributing to the design and evaluation of instructional materials that help students engage more deeply with fundamental physics concepts.

My academic trajectory includes the development of a digital instructional resource on introductory quantum physics, an experience that grounds my current interest in research on quantum mechanics education, formative assessment, and interactive tutorials.

Teaching Experience

Teaching experience.

My teaching experience includes independent academic tutoring, physics support, and language instruction.

I have worked with students in contexts that require clear explanation, individualized guidance, and adaptation to different learning needs. My teaching practice is strongly influenced by the idea that students' reasoning must be understood before it can be effectively guided.
